Numa Numa style news reporting - Charlie Brooker how to report the news

Charlie Brooker’s “How to report the news” is one of the funniest and smartest videos I’ve seen in a long time and it’s a perfect example of how predictable we are when it comes to TV and the web. We tend to watch videos, podcasts and news reports that follow the same pattern over and over again. Yet until it’s actually pointed out to us, we usually don’t take any notice.

This video showcases some the techniques of news reporting on the web or TV that are repeated time and time again.

The truth is that some of these techniques are actually not simple to pull off and they come across as being rather impressive and important to the average Joe. That’s exactly the point Brooker is making in his video. Follow these predictable, yet impressive steps and you’re on to a winner.

The amazing thing is that this has turned into a hugely viral video. At the time of writing it has had over 1.2 million views on YouTube and is being shared by some of the coolest and trendiest reporters on the web such as Natali Del Conte on Twitter. This is not a classic Numa Numa type viral video because there was actually a lot of effort put into the presentation of the video and Charlie Brooker is a true journalist. It’s still one of those classics that make you want to go ahead and share it with the rest as it’s so darn brilliant.

Cat Boxing Video

This video of two cats fighting is excellent because the sound effects are fantastic. It’s almost as if the cats had been trained to time their shots and use their jab at just the right time.

This video merits the Numa Numa stamp of viral video approval thanks to the perfect sound track. Kudos.

Napoleon Dynamite Numa Numa Dance

Napoleon Dynamite was a great movie. Excellent dialogue with some really funny scenes that were executed perfectly by Jon Heder who was the startof the movie. This guy was basically unknown before the movie and became a star overnight. Well maybe a “star” is the wrong term to describe Heder, but he did a good job and established himself as a good actor for the nerd-hero genre.

It’s somewhat ironic that there is a scene with Napolean dancing to the Numa Numa song. Numa Numa is known across the world as the phenomenon of viral videos that spread across the web like a crazy virus. A perfect opportunity to have your relatively unknown actor carry out a hilarious scene using this very song.

We’re going to be sharing a lot more classic numa numa videos, but this is one you will be laughing at for a long time because Napolean Dynamite is not the most graceful dancer in the world, but just like the Numanuma song, you can’t get it out of your head at the end of the day.

Do you like literal videos?

There’s a fairly new craze on the web referred to as “Literal Videos”. Lets start with an example:

At first I thought this was pretty cool and laughed at it, but then it started to feel like cheap wine in some old dingy motel. I wanted to shut down my browser and walk away slowly from my computer doing my best to put this out of my mind.

What’s your take on literal videos? Do you love them or hate them?

At the time of writing, this video has been watched over 2.5 million times on YouTube.com and I’m sure that number will keep rising. The rating is also excellent, but I have to wonder…

why?

Dane Cook comedy - breaking and entering

If you’re having a bad day or you just need a really good laugh, stop what you’re doing and watch this video. Then carry on reading this post when you’re done (I don’t want to run anything):

Now I dare you to tell me that wasn’t one of the funniest things you’ve ever seen in your life? Dane Cook is a genius.

** spoiler alert **

The part where he describes how the family sits around and asks “what did he take”. The way Dane Cook tells his jokes is like a great author writing a novel. You can actually visualize the entire scenario.

Now that we’re on the subject of Dane Cook. Here’s a guy who made his entire career off the web. He started off by promoting himself to anybody and everybody that was online and took notice and man did it pay off. Just another great example of how Internet Marketing is absolutely MASSIVE.
